Description

Human ACVR1 ELISA Kit

Human ACVR1 ELISA kits are used to detect Activin A Receptor Type I (ACVR1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ACVR1, also called ALK2, is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase that acts as a bone morphogenetic protein type I receptor. It forms heterotetrameric complexes with type II receptors such as ACVR2A, ACVR2B or AMHR2, and when ligands such as BMP7 or BMP9 bind, the type II kinase phosphorylates ACVR1, which then phosphorylates SMAD1, SMAD5 and SMAD8 to carry the signal to the nucleus. ACVR1 takes part in the development of bone, heart, cartilage, and the nervous and reproductive systems. Activating variants cause fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, a rare disorder with progressive heterotopic ossification of soft tissue, and recurrent variants have been found in diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, so the receptor is studied in skeletal disease and cancer.
