Description

Human BMP3 ELISA Kit

Human BMP3 ELISA kits are used to detect Bone Morphogenetic Protein 3 (BMP3) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. BMP3, also called osteogenin, is a growth factor of the TGF-beta superfamily and is the most abundant bone morphogenetic protein in adult bone. It plays an essential role in development by inducing and patterning early skeletal formation, but it negatively regulates bone density, and it antagonises the ability of certain osteogenic BMPs to induce osteoprogenitor differentiation and ossification. BMP3 initiates signalling by associating with the type II receptor ACVR2B to activate SMAD2-dependent and SMAD-independent cascades, including the TAK1 and JNK pathways. Altered BMP3 expression and methylation have been reported in colorectal cancer, and BMP3 has been associated with bone mass, so it is studied in skeletal biology and cancer research.
