Description

Human GDA ELISA Kit

Human GDA ELISA kits are used to detect Guanine Deaminase (GDA) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. GDA, or guanine deaminase, also known as guanase or cypin, is an enzyme that catalyses the hydrolytic deamination of guanine to produce xanthine and ammonia. This step is part of purine catabolism, allowing guanine derived from nucleic acid turnover to be converted towards uric acid for excretion. GDA is expressed in tissues such as the brain, liver and kidney. In neurons, it also acts as cypin, promoting dendrite branching by binding PSD-95 and influencing microtubule assembly, so it links purine metabolism with neuronal development. GDA is therefore studied in nucleotide metabolism and in neuronal morphology and synaptic function.
