Description

Human ICA1 ELISA Kit

Human ICA1 ELISA kits are used to detect Islet Cell Autoantigen 1 (ICA1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. ICA1, islet cell autoantigen 1, also known as ICA69, is a 69 kDa protein that was first identified as a target of autoantibodies in patients with type 1 diabetes. It is expressed in pancreatic islet cells and in neurons, and it is associated with the Golgi and with secretory vesicles, where it may play a role in neurotransmitter secretion and in vesicle trafficking, including through interaction with the BAR-domain protein PICK1. In pancreatic beta cells it may contribute to the maturation of insulin secretory granules. Autoantibodies and T cell reactivity to ICA1 have been detected in type 1 diabetes and also in other autoimmune conditions such as Sjogren syndrome, so ICA1 is studied in autoimmunity and in secretory vesicle biology.
