Description

Human MYOC ELISA Kit

Human MYOC ELISA kits are used to detect Myocilin (MYOC) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. MYOC, or myocilin, is a secreted glycoprotein with a C-terminal olfactomedin domain that is expressed in the trabecular meshwork of the eye, as well as in the ciliary body, retina, skeletal muscle and heart. It was first identified as a glucocorticoid-inducible protein of trabecular meshwork cells. Myocilin regulates signalling in adjacent cells and affects cell adhesion, cytoskeleton organisation and cell migration, in part by influencing Rho signalling, and it may help to regulate aqueous humour outflow resistance. Mutations in MYOC, mostly in the olfactomedin domain, cause misfolded protein to accumulate in the endoplasmic reticulum of trabecular meshwork cells, and are the most common known genetic cause of primary open-angle glaucoma, including a juvenile form.
