Description

Human NKCC1 ELISA Kit

Human NKCC1 ELISA kits are used to detect Na-K-Cl Cotransporter 1 (NKCC1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. NKCC1 is the Na-K-Cl cotransporter 1, encoded by the SLC12A2 gene, a cation-chloride cotransporter that moves sodium, potassium and chloride together across the membrane in an electroneutral manner. It is widely expressed, in epithelia where it supplies chloride for secretion as well as in neurons, glial cells and the vasculature, and it is important for ionic balance and cell volume regulation. In immature neurons NKCC1 accumulates chloride, so that GABA is depolarising, and a balance with KCC2 sets neuronal chloride levels. Variants in the gene have been linked to deafness, and altered NKCC1 activity has been implicated in epilepsy, brain edema after injury, hypertension and cancer cell migration.
