Description
Human Perforin/PRF1 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human Perforin/PRF1 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Gln411-Gly531, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 15.95 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Perforin-1 (PRF1) is a ~61 kDa protein. Pore-forming protein that plays a key role in granzyme-mediated programmed cell death, and in defense against virus-infected or neoplastic cells. For research use only.
Plays an important role in killing other cells that are recognized as non-self by the immune system, e.g. in transplant rejection or some forms of autoimmune disease. Can insert into the membrane of target cells in its calcium-bound form, oligomerize and form large pores. Promotes cytolysis and apoptosis of target cells by mediating the passage and uptake of cytotoxic granzymes.
