Description

Human PFKP ELISA Kit

Human PFKP ELISA kits are used to detect Phosphofructokinase, Platelet (PFKP) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. PFKP is the platelet isoform of phosphofructokinase-1, the enzyme that catalyses the phosphorylation of fructose 6-phosphate to fructose 1,6-bisphosphate using ATP. This reaction is the first committed and main rate-limiting step of glycolysis, so PFKP is a key control point for glucose flux. The enzyme assembles into tetramers whose activity is fine-tuned by metabolites such as ATP, citrate and fructose 2,6-bisphosphate, and it is found in platelets, brain, fibroblasts and many other cell types. Increased PFKP expression has been reported in a number of cancers, where it may support the high glycolytic rate of tumour cells, and it has therefore been studied as a marker and potential therapeutic target in cancer metabolism.
