Description

Human SORL1 ELISA Kit

Human SORL1 ELISA kits are used to detect Sortilin Related Receptor (SORL1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. SORL1, also known as SorLA or LR11, is a large sorting receptor of the vacuolar protein sorting 10 domain family that is highly expressed in neurons. Working with adaptor complexes such as AP-1, it directs cargo between the Golgi apparatus, endosomes and the cell surface. Its best-characterised cargo is the amyloid precursor protein, which SORL1 retains in the trans-Golgi network so that less of it reaches the endosomal compartments where amyloid-beta peptides are generated. It can also guide newly formed amyloid-beta towards lysosomal degradation. Reduced SORL1 expression and loss-of-function variants have been associated with late-onset Alzheimer disease, and soluble SORL1 fragments in biological fluids are being investigated as potential indicators of neurodegenerative processes.
