Description

Human STOM ELISA Kit

Human STOM ELISA kits are used to detect Stomatin (STOM) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants, saliva and other biological samples. STOM, or stomatin, is an integral membrane protein of the SPFH domain family that was first identified in the red blood cell membrane, where it is also known as erythrocyte band 7 protein. Stomatin regulates ion channel activity and transmembrane ion transport, including that of the acid-sensing ion channels ASIC2 and ASIC3, and it influences the cation permeability and cytoskeletal connections of the red cell membrane. Loss of stomatin from erythrocytes is seen in overhydrated hereditary stomatocytosis, a rare haemolytic anaemia, although the gene itself is not usually mutated, and altered expression has been reported in some tumours.
