Description

Mouse GT ELISA Kit

Mouse GT ELISA kits are used to detect Gastrin (GT) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. GT, or gastrin, is a peptide hormone secreted mainly by the G cells of the gastric antrum and duodenum and produced as several forms, including the 34-residue big gastrin and the shorter 17-residue forms. It stimulates the gastric mucosa to produce and secrete hydrochloric acid and the pancreas to secrete digestive enzymes, and it also promotes smooth muscle contraction and increases blood flow and water secretion in the stomach and intestine. It is released in response to dietary protein and gastric distension, and it also exerts a trophic effect on the gastric mucosa. Very high gastrin levels may be associated with gastrinoma, as in Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, or with atrophic gastritis and prolonged use of acid-suppressing drugs.
