Pyroptosis is an inflammatory, lytic form of cell death executed by gasdermin pore formation. Inflammatory caspases (caspase-1, -4/-11) cleave gasdermin D, while caspase-3 activates gasdermin E, releasing IL-1beta and alarmins downstream of inflammasome activation.
