Pleiotrophin/PTN/HB-GAM Recombinant Protein

HB-GAM belongs to the pleiotrophin family. HB-GAM is expressed in the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as numerous non-neural tissues such as the lung, kidney, gut, and bone throughout embryonic and early postnatal development. It is expressed in an activity-dependent manner in the hippocampus of adult mice, where it can reduce long-term potentiation induction. In the adult brain, HB-GAM is low overall but can be induced by ischemic insults or targeted neuronal damage to the entorhinal cortex or substantia nigra pars compact (SNpc). It has a high affinity for heparin and is structurally related to retinoic acid-induced heparin-binding protein and midkine. HB-GAM binds anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) which induces MAPK pathway activation, an important step in the anti-apoptotic signaling of PTN and regulation of cell proliferation. It also has a mitogenic effect on fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells as a secreted growth factor. Pleiotrophin/PTN/HB-GAM Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
