Description

GA ELISA Kit

GA ELISA kits are used to detect Gibberellic Acid (GA) in cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. Gibberellic acid, also known as GA3, is a diterpenoid plant hormone belonging to the large gibberellin family, originally isolated from the fungus Gibberella fujikuroi, which causes excessive stem growth in rice. In plants gibberellins promote stem and internode elongation, seed germination, the transition to flowering and fruit development. During germination, the hormone induces synthesis of hydrolytic enzymes such as alpha-amylase in the aleurone layer, thereby mobilising stored reserves. Gibberellins act by triggering degradation of DELLA growth-repressor proteins through the GID1 receptor. Because it influences yield, plant height and fruit size, gibberellic acid is widely used in agriculture and horticulture, and its measurement supports research in plant physiology and crop biology.
