Description

LA ELISA Kit

LA ELISA kits are used to detect Lactic Acid (LA) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Lactic acid (LA), present at physiological pH mainly as lactate, is the end product of anaerobic glycolysis, formed when lactate dehydrogenase reduces pyruvate while regenerating NAD+. It is produced mainly by skeletal muscle, red blood cells and the brain, and taken up by the liver for gluconeogenesis through the Cori cycle, and also used as a fuel by the heart and neurons. Lactate additionally acts as a signalling molecule through the receptor GPR81 and influences gene expression. Blood lactate rises during intense exercise, and persistent elevation may indicate tissue hypoxia, impaired perfusion, sepsis, liver disease or mitochondrial disorders, so it is used as a marker of metabolic stress and measured in clinical, sport and cancer metabolism research.
