Assay Genie Sustainability Policy
Assay Genie Sustainability Policy
Reducing waste, extending the useful life of packaging materials and improving resource efficiency across our operations, logistics and supply chain.
Reuse & recycle
Ice packs and insulated EPS boxes are collected and reused rather than entering the waste stream.
Less waste
Reduce, reuse and recycle applied across packaging, paper and everyday consumables.
Efficient shipping
Consolidated shipments and right-sized packaging without compromising product integrity.
Shared responsibility
Employees, suppliers and customers working together on continuous improvement.
01Purpose
Assay Genie Ltd. is committed to conducting our business in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. As a life science company supplying research products to laboratories worldwide, we recognise that our operations, packaging, logistics and supply chain have an environmental impact.
Our sustainability policy is focused on reducing waste, extending the useful life of materials, improving resource efficiency and working with our employees, suppliers and customers to continuously improve our environmental performance.
02Our Commitment
Assay Genie is committed to:
- Reducing unnecessary waste across our operations.
- Reusing and recycling packaging materials wherever it is safe and practical to do so.
- Reducing the consumption of single-use materials.
- Improving the efficiency of our packaging and shipping processes.
- Working with suppliers and logistics partners to identify more sustainable alternatives.
- Encouraging environmentally responsible practices among our employees.
- Reviewing our sustainability practices regularly and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
03Packaging Reuse and Recycling
Packaging associated with the transportation of life science products can generate significant volumes of material, particularly insulated packaging used for temperature-sensitive shipments.
To reduce our consumption of new packaging materials, Assay Genie actively operates a reuse programme for suitable shipping materials.
Packaging reuse programme: We work with local universities and research institutions to collect and reuse ice packs and insulated expanded polystyrene (EPS) shipping boxes that would otherwise potentially enter the waste stream.
Where appropriate and where product quality, cleanliness and safety requirements can be maintained, these materials are inspected and reused for subsequent shipments.
This initiative helps us to:
- Extend the useful life of existing packaging materials.
- Reduce demand for newly manufactured ice packs and insulated shipping containers.
- Reduce the volume of packaging entering local waste streams.
- Support a circular approach to laboratory and life science packaging.
- Reduce the environmental impact associated with the manufacture and disposal of single-use shipping materials.
We encourage local research organisations to participate in this programme where suitable materials are available for collection and reuse.
04Waste Reduction
Assay Genie aims to minimise waste throughout our operations by applying the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle.
Where possible, we seek to:
- Avoid unnecessary packaging.
- Reuse suitable shipping and packaging materials.
- Separate recyclable materials from general waste.
- Reduce paper consumption through the use of digital documentation.
- Recycle cardboard, paper and other appropriate materials.
- Dispose of materials responsibly when reuse or recycling is not possible.
05Sustainable Procurement
We recognise that a significant proportion of our environmental impact occurs within our wider supply chain.
Assay Genie will progressively encourage suppliers and service providers to:
- Minimise unnecessary packaging.
- Use recyclable or reusable packaging where practical.
- Consider lower-impact packaging alternatives.
- Consolidate shipments where appropriate.
- Reduce waste throughout manufacturing and distribution processes.
Environmental considerations may form part of our evaluation of suppliers alongside quality, reliability, regulatory compliance, service and commercial considerations.
06Shipping and Logistics
As an international life science supplier, transportation is an important component of our environmental footprint.
We aim to improve shipping efficiency by:
- Consolidating shipments where commercially and operationally appropriate.
- Selecting packaging that provides appropriate product protection without unnecessary material use.
- Reusing temperature-controlled packaging where suitable.
- Working with established logistics providers that are developing lower-carbon transportation and distribution practices.
- Continuously reviewing our fulfilment processes for opportunities to reduce waste and unnecessary transportation.
Product integrity and appropriate temperature control will always remain essential requirements when selecting packaging and shipping methods.
07Energy and Resource Efficiency
Within our offices and operational facilities, Assay Genie encourages responsible use of energy and resources.
Employees are encouraged to:
- Reduce unnecessary electricity consumption.
- Switch off equipment, lighting and devices when they are not required.
- Minimise printing and use digital documentation where possible.
- Recycle appropriate office materials.
- Avoid unnecessary consumption of disposable products.
08Employee Engagement
Sustainability is a shared responsibility.
Assay Genie encourages employees to identify practical opportunities to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and introduce more sustainable working practices.
Sustainability considerations should form part of operational decision-making wherever they can be implemented without compromising product quality, employee safety, regulatory obligations or customer requirements.
09Continuous Improvement
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing process rather than a single initiative.
Assay Genie will periodically review its environmental practices and seek opportunities to:
- Increase the proportion of packaging that is reused or recyclable.
- Reduce consumption of virgin packaging materials.
- Improve waste segregation and recycling.
- Work with additional research organisations participating in packaging reuse initiatives.
- Improve the environmental performance of our supply chain.
- Identify practical methods of measuring and reducing our environmental footprint.
As the company grows, we intend to develop increasingly measurable sustainability objectives and monitor progress against them.
10Responsibility
The management team at Assay Genie is responsible for supporting the implementation of this policy.
All employees are expected to contribute to the company's sustainability objectives and follow the environmental practices relevant to their roles.
11Review
This Sustainability Policy will be reviewed periodically and updated where necessary to reflect changes in our operations, environmental objectives, applicable requirements and recognised good practice.
