The C4A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB9511) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the complement component 4A (C4A), a key player in the complement system, a part of the innate immune response. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting.C4A is involved in the activation of the complement system and plays a crucial role in immune defense against pathogens. Dysregulation of C4A has been implicated in various autoimmune diseases and inflammatory conditions, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.
By detecting and analyzing C4A protein levels, researchers can gain insights into its function and potential implications for disease processes. With its specificity and reliability, the C4A Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for studies in immunology, autoimmunity, and infectious diseases. Its ability to accurately detect C4A protein expression in different cell types makes it a versatile reagent for investigating the role of C4A in health and disease.

This gene encodes the acidic form of complement factor 4, part of the classical activation pathway. The protein is expressed as a single chain precursor which is proteolytically cleaved into a trimer of alpha, beta, and gamma chains prior to secretion. The trimer provides a surface for interaction between the antigen-antibody complex and other complement components. The alpha chain is cleaved to release C4 anaphylatoxin, an antimicrobial peptide and a mediator of local inflammation. Deficiency of this protein is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and type I diabetes mellitus. This gene localizes to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class III region on chromosome 6. Varying haplotypes of this gene cluster exist, such that individuals may have 1, 2, or 3 copies of this gene. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
