Human Neurturin/NRTN Recombinant Protein

Neurturin is a GDNF-family ligand, which includes glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), neurturin, persephin, and artemin. Neurturin is found in both neurons and nonneuronal tissues. Neurturin is formed as a precursor protein that is cleaved at the dibasic cleavage site (RXXR) to release the carboxyterminal domain, similarly to other TGF-beta family proteins. The carboxy terminal domain of neurturin contains the essential seven conserved cysteine residues for the formation of the cysteine-knot and single interchain disulfide bond. Biologically active human neurturin is a disulfide-linked homodimer of the carboxy-terminal 102 amino acid residues. Bioactivities of all GDNF family ligands are mediated by a distinct multicoelement receptor complex comprising a high-affinity ligand binding component (GFR alpha-1-GFR alpha-4) and a common signaling component (cRET receptor tyrosine kinase), which is distinct from other members of the TGF-beta Each member of the GDNF family of ligands binds to a unique protein. Neurturin binds to GFR alpha-2 with higher affinity than it does to GFR alpha-1. It may be involved in the development and maintenance of the central and peripheral nervous systems as well as non-neuronal systems. Human Neurturin/NRTN Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
