ColorStep or QuickStep ELISA?

Two rapid workflows, both using 50 µL of sample and finishing in under two hours.

Easiest to follow

ColorStep ELISA

Distinct colour changes at each step make the protocol easy to follow and results more reliable. Available in 90- and 120-minute formats.

  • Colour-coded reagents
  • Sandwich (double-antibody) format
  • Low CV (<6%)

Fastest workflow

QuickStep ELISA

Results in 90 minutes with a simple single load-and-wash protocol — fast, efficient and reliable for streamlined workflows.

  • Single load-and-wash step
  • Sandwich or competitive formats
  • Low CV (<10%)

How it works

The 120-minute ColorStep protocol

Each step produces a distinct plate colour, so you can see the assay progressing and catch a pipetting error before you read the plate.

Step 1 · 60 min

Capture/detection antibody, then standard or sample

Blue
Step 2 · 30 min

HRP-streptavidin added to wells

Orange
Step 3 · 10–20 min

TMB substrate added to wells

→Colourless to dark blue
Step 4

Stop solution added, then read the plate

→Blue to yellow

Many ColorStep targets also run on a 3-step, 90-minute protocol with the HRP-streptavidin built into step 1, and every QuickStep kit returns results in 90 minutes. The protocol for your target is on its product page and in the kit manual.

FAQs

Fast ELISA kit FAQs

How fast are Assay Genie's fast ELISA kits?

They deliver quantitative results in under 120 minutes. ColorStep kits run on a 90- or 120-minute protocol, and QuickStep kits use a 90-minute, single-wash workflow — saving 1–2 hours compared with a conventional half-day or overnight sandwich ELISA.

What is the difference between ColorStep and QuickStep?

ColorStep kits use colour-coded reagents that change colour at each step, making the sandwich protocol easy to follow (CV <6%). QuickStep kits prioritise speed with a single load-and-wash step in sandwich or competitive formats (CV <10%).

How much sample does a fast ELISA kit need?

Both formats need only 50 µL of sample per well, and are validated for serum, plasma, cell-culture supernatant and other biological fluids. Check each product page for the exact validated sample types.

Which species are covered?

Human, mouse and rat, plus a broad set of other species including primate, rabbit, porcine, bovine and canine.

Are fast ELISA kits suitable for high-throughput screening?

Yes. The 96-well format, short incubations and ready-to-use reagents suit high-throughput and time-sensitive projects, with lot-to-lot consistency for reproducible results.

Are fast ELISA kits for research use only?

Yes. All Assay Genie fast ELISA kits are for research use only and are not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
