High-Throughput Screening Assays
Homogeneous, add-and-read kits for compound screening: viability and cytotoxicity, enzyme activity, inhibitor screening and metabolic read-outs.
Cell viability, MTT and LDH cytotoxicity assays for primary screens and counter-screens.
Kinase and neuraminidase activity, plus arginase, nitric oxide synthase, monoamine oxidase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor kits.
Glycolysis, fatty acid uptake, adipolysis, G6PD and a luciferase reporter kit.
A screening assay needs few liquid-handling steps, no washes, a signal that stays stable while a stack of plates is read, and a wide enough window between positive and negative controls to pick out hits reliably. These kits use homogeneous protocols that transfer to multi-well plates and automated dispensers.
The homogeneous protocols are designed for multi-well formats. Check each protocol for recommended volumes and plate types.
Run positive and negative controls across a plate and calculate the Z-prime factor. A value above 0.5 is generally taken as suitable for screening.
A viability or cytotoxicity assay is the usual counter-screen, to separate specific hits from compounds that simply kill cells.
