The SLC22A6 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO05749) is a powerful tool for researchers studying SLC22A6, a member of the solute carrier family known for its role in drug transport and metabolism. Raised in rabbits, this antibody is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications. By targeting the SLC22A6 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential component for studies in pharmacology and drug development.SLC22A6, also known as organic ion transporter 1 (OCT1), plays a crucial role in the uptake and elimination of various endogenous and exogenous compounds, including drugs and toxins.
Understanding the function and regulation of SLC22A6 is essential for predicting drug interactions, optimizing therapeutic outcomes, and minimizing adverse effects. Researchers in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and personalized medicine will benefit from the specificity and reliability of this antibody in their studies.

SLC22A6: Involved in the renal elimination of endogenous and exogenous organic anions. Functions as organic anion exchanger when the uptake of one molecule of organic anion is coupled with an efflux of one molecule of endogenous dicarboxylic acid (glutarate, ketoglutarate, etc). Mediates the sodium-independent uptake of 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid (DMPS). Mediates the sodium-independent uptake of p- aminohippurate (PAH), ochratoxin (OTA), acyclovir (ACV), 3'-azido- 3-'deoxythymidine (AZT), cimetidine (CMD), 2,4-dichloro- phenoxyacetate (2,4-D), hippurate (HA), indoleacetate (IA), indoxyl sulfate (IS) and 3-carboxy-4-methyl-5-propyl-2- furanpropionate (CMPF), cidofovir, adefovir, 9-(2- phosphonylmethoxyethyl) guanine (PMEG), 9-(2- phosphonylmethoxyethyl) diaminopurine (PMEDAP) and edaravone sulfate. PAH uptake is inhibited by p- chloromercuribenzenesulphonate (PCMBS), diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEPC), sulindac, diclofenac, carprofen, glutarate and okadaic acid. PAH uptake is inhibited by benzothiazolylcysteine (BTC), S-chlorotrifluoroethylcysteine (CTFC), cysteine S-conjugates S-dichlorovinylcysteine (DCVC), furosemide, steviol, phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), calcium ionophore A23187, benzylpenicillin, furosemide, indomethacin, bumetamide, losartan, probenecid, phenol red, urate, and alpha-ketoglutarate. Belongs to the major facilitator (TC 2.A.1) superfamily. Organic cation transporter (TC 2.A.1.19) family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Protein type: Transporter, SLC family; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter; Membrane protein, integralChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q12.3Cellular Component: protein complex; integral to plasma membrane; basolateral plasma membrane; plasma membrane; caveolaMolecular Function: protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; inorganic anion exchanger activity; organic anion transmembrane transporter activity; sodium-independent organic anion transmembrane transporter activity; chloride ion bindingBiological Process: sodium-independent organic anion transport; alpha-ketoglutarate transport; response to methotrexate; transmembrane transport; protein homooligomerization; organic anion transport
UniProt Protein Details:
NCBI Summary:
The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the sodium-dependent transport and excretion of organic anions, some of which are potentially toxic. The encoded protein is an integral membrane protein and may be localized to the basolateral membrane. Four transcript variants encoding four different isoforms have been found for this gene.
