How QuickStep ELISA Works
Two assay principles cover proteins and small molecules alike.
Sandwich QuickStep ELISA
The plate is pre-coated with a capture antibody specific to the target. Sample and an HRP-linked detection antibody are added together; the antigen is captured between the two antibodies. After a single wash, substrate is added, the reaction is stopped, and optical density is read and compared against a standard curve. Best for larger proteins such as cytokines and biomarkers.
Learn about sandwich ELISACompetitive QuickStep ELISA
The plate is pre-coated with antigen. Sample antigen competes with the fixed plate antigen for binding to an HRP-linked antibody. After a single wash and substrate addition, signal is inversely proportional to sample concentration. Ideal for small molecules and hormones such as cortisol, estradiol, progesterone and testosterone.

Frequently Asked Questions
How fast is the QuickStep ELISA protocol?
QuickStep ELISA kits use a streamlined 90-minute protocol with a single wash step, saving up to two hours of hands-on time compared with conventional multi-wash sandwich ELISAs while maintaining sensitivity and specificity.
How much sample does a QuickStep ELISA need?
Each assay requires just 50 uL of sample, making QuickStep kits ideal for precious or low-volume specimens such as serum, plasma and other biological fluids.
What is the difference between QuickStep sandwich and competitive ELISA kits?
Sandwich QuickStep kits use a pre-coated capture antibody plus an HRP-linked detection antibody and are used for larger proteins. Competitive QuickStep kits use a pre-coated antigen and are used for small molecules and hormones such as cortisol, estradiol and testosterone, where the sample analyte competes with fixed antigen for the HRP-linked antibody.
Which species do QuickStep ELISA kits cover?
QuickStep ELISA kits are available for human, mouse and rat targets, plus cross-reactive hormone kits validated in bovine, porcine, canine, monkey, chicken, sheep, rabbit and horse samples.
What sample types are QuickStep ELISA kits validated for?
QuickStep kits are validated for use in serum, plasma, urine, saliva and other biological fluids. Validated matrices are listed on each product datasheet.
Are QuickStep ELISA kits for research use only?
Yes. All Assay Genie QuickStep ELISA kits are intended strictly for research use only (RUO) and are not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
