Colm and Seán spotted a gap in the market for better research tools and launched an assay website as an experiment. Interest grew, they expanded beyond cytotoxicity and autophagy kits into ELISA assays, and after securing investment in London in 2016 they officially launched Assay Genie in March 2017. By year end, researchers across Europe, the U.S. and Japan were using their products.

Assay Genie celebrated its first year with major milestones - new distributor agreements strengthened its global network, the team met researchers at EACR Amsterdam and Alzheimer’s UK, and the ‘Cancer Research Club’ connected scientists from Oxford, Harvard and beyond.

The team presented its latest technology at GSK and connected with researchers at ELRIG. Sustainability took centre stage with an ice-pack recycling programme for local labs and a move to fully recyclable ELISA kit packaging.

Assay Genie stepped up for the global scientific community, developing a novel COVID-19 detection test and IgG/IgM tests, and working with researchers across the Middle East, Italy, China and Japan - a powerful reminder of how science drives progress when the world needs it most.

New distribution agreements landed across Europe, Asia and the Americas, the team travelled to Korea to support a growing market, and showcased innovations at Labvolution. The year also marked the launch of the In Vivo antibody range.

We welcomed distributors from 25 countries to Dublin for our two-day Global Distributor Meeting at the historic Teeling Distillery - two days of training, product deep-dives and celebrating the partnerships that bring Assay Genie to labs worldwide.
