Vitronectin has the ability to promote either cell adhesion or migration. Integrins, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, and urokinase plasminogen activator receptors are examples of ligands. Vitronectin is a protein that may be found in the plasma as a monomer or dimer and has many molecules when it exists outside of the body. Vitronectin is associated with two disorders: camppetodactyly-arthropathy-coxa vara-pericarditis syndrome and glanzmann thrombasthenia.
