Description
SLC6A4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB23887)
The SLC6A4 Polyclonal Antibody is a powerful tool for research involving the SLC6A4 protein, also known as the serotonin transporter (SERT). This cell membrane protein is responsible for transporting serotonin from the synaptic cleft back into the presynaptic neuron, regulating serotonin levels in the brain.Raised in rabbits, this antibody is highly sensitive and specific for detecting SLC6A4 in human samples. Validated for use in Western blot applications, this antibody enables researchers to easily detect and analyze SLC6A4 expression in a variety of cell types. The SLC6A4 protein plays a crucial role in neurotransmission and mood regulation, making it a key target for studies in neuroscience, psychiatry, and pharmacology.
Dysregulation of SLC6A4 has been implicated in mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as in neurological conditions like autism spectrum disorders.By understanding the function and regulation of SLC6A4, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these disorders and develop novel therapeutic strategies targeting the serotonin system. The SLC6A4 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for advancing research in these areas and uncovering new opportunities for treatment and intervention.

This gene encodes an integral membrane protein that transports the neurotransmitter serotonin from synaptic spaces into presynaptic neurons. The encoded protein terminates the action of serotonin and recycles it in a sodium-dependent manner. This protein is a target of psychomotor stimulants, such as amphetamines and cocaine, and is a member of the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter family. A repeat length polymorphism in the promoter of this gene has been shown to affect the rate of serotonin uptake. There have been conflicting results in the literature about the possible effect, if any, that this polymorphism may play in behavior and depression.
