Description
SPAG1 Antibody (PACO18424)
The SPAG1 Antibody (PAC018424) is a valuable tool for researchers studying SPAG1, a protein involved in cilia and flagella formation. This polyclonal antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is recommended for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the SPAG1 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of SPAG1 in various cell types, making it an essential asset for studies in cell biology and genetic disorders.
SPAG1 is a crucial component of the cilia and flagella structure, playing a key role in cellular motility and signaling. Dysregulation of SPAG1 has been associated with various genetic disorders affecting ciliary function, leading to conditions such as primary ciliary dyskinesia. By understanding the function of SPAG1, researchers can uncover insights into the mechanisms underlying cilia-related diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for intervention.

Background: | The correlation of anti-sperm antibodies with cases of unexplained infertility implicates a role for these antibodies in blocking fertilization. Improved diagnosis and treatment of immunologic infertility, as well as identification of proteins for targeted contraception, are dependent on the identification and characterization of relevant sperm antigens. The protein expressed by this gene is recognized by anti-sperm agglutinating antibodies from an infertile woman. Furthermore, immunization of female rats with the recombinant human protein reduced fertility. This protein localizes to the plasma membrane of germ cells in the testis and to the post-acrosomal plasma membrane of mature spermatozoa. Recombinant polypeptide binds GTP and exhibits GTPase activity. Thus, this protein may regulate GTP signal transduction pathways involved in spermatogenesis and fertilization. Two transcript variants of this gene encode the same protein. |
