The TPMT Antibody (CAB1017) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.TPMT is an important enzyme in the thiopurine drug pathway, responsible for inactivating and clearing these medications from the body. Variations in TPMT activity can impact drug efficacy and toxicity, making TPMT genotyping and phenotyping essential for personalized medicine approaches.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, IF/ICC, ELISA applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat samples.

This gene encodes the enzyme that metabolizes thiopurine drugs via S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the S-methyl donor and S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine as a byproduct. Thiopurine drugs such as 6-mercaptopurine are used as chemotherapeutic agents. Genetic polymorphisms that affect this enzymatic activity are correlated with variations in sensitivity and toxicity to such drugs within individuals, causing thiopurine S-methyltransferase deficiency. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 3, 18 and X.
