The AK2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3723) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and is ideal for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the AK2 protein, researchers can study its role in cellular energy metabolism and mitochondrial function, making it suitable for studies in biochemistry, cell biology, and mitochondrial diseases.AK2 is an essential enzyme involved in maintaining cellular energy balance and promoting ATP production within the mitochondria. Dysregulation of AK2 activity has been linked to various metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, ELISA applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse samples.

Adenylate kinases are involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate groups among adenine nucleotides. Three isozymes of adenylate kinase, namely 1, 2, and 3, have been identified in vertebrates; this gene encodes isozyme 2. Expression of these isozymes is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated. Isozyme 2 is localized in the mitochondrial intermembrane space and may play a role in apoptosis. Mutations in this gene are the cause of reticular dysgenesis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 1 and 2.
