The TPMT Monoclonal Antibody (CAB20922) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blotting applications.TPMT plays a crucial role in determining the efficacy and toxicity of thiopurine medications, making it a focal point of study in pharmacogenetics and personalized medicine. Understanding the expression and activity of TPMT in different cell types and tissues is essential for optimizing drug dosages and minimizing adverse reactions in patients undergoing thiopurine therapy.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, ELISA applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat samples.

This gene encodes the enzyme that metabolizes thiopurine drugs via S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the S-methyl donor and S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine as a byproduct. Thiopurine drugs such as 6-mercaptopurine are used as chemotherapeutic agents. Genetic polymorphisms that affect this enzymatic activity are correlated with variations in sensitivity and toxicity to such drugs within individuals, causing thiopurine S-methyltransferase deficiency. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 3, 18 and X.
