The G6PD Antibody (CAB13983) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.G6PD is a crucial enzyme that plays a key role in the production of NADPH, an important molecule for cellular antioxidant defenses and biosynthetic pathways. Dysregulation of G6PD activity has been linked to various diseases, including glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD deficiency), which can lead to hemolytic anemia in patients.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, IF/ICC, ELISA, IF-P applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat samples.

This gene encodes glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme encoded by a housekeeping X-linked gene whose main function is to produce NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents and in reductive biosynthetic reactions. G6PD is remarkable for its genetic diversity. Many variants of G6PD, mostly produced from missense mutations, have been described with wide ranging levels of enzyme activity and associated clinical symptoms. G6PD deficiency may cause neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or severe chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
