The GAD67/GAD1 Monoclonal Antibody (CAB1475) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. These proteins are essential enzymes involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which plays a crucial role in the central nervous system.Raised in rabbits, this polyclonal antibody is highly specific and reactive with human samples, making it ideal for use in various experimental applications, including Western blotting. By binding to GAD67 and GAD1 proteins, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of these key enzymes in different cell types. The GAD67/GAD1 Antibody is particularly valuable in neuroscience research, as abnormalities in GABA synthesis have been linked to neurological disorders such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, and Parkinson's disease.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, ELISA applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat samples.

This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantigen and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Deficiency in this enzyme has been shown to lead to pyridoxine dependency with seizures. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two products, the predominant 67-kD form and a less-frequent 25-kD form.
