Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation consumes oxygen to produce ATP, which provides energy for cell growth. Therefore, detection of cellular oxygen consumption is a key indicator of mitochondrial function. The kit provides a fluorescent probe, which is sensitive to oxygen.
