SNCG has been shown to be involved in the maintenance of neurofilament network integrity and may be related to axon architecture regulation during development and adulthood. It may also play a role in regulating the keratin network in skin. SNCG has been used to identify breast cancer progression as a biomarker. It has been shown that SNCG is associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
