The CD138/Syndecan-1 Monoclonal Antibody (CAB4174) is a high-quality antibody developed for reliable detection and analysis of target proteins. This antibody, developed using rabbit monoclonal technology, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for human samples, making it ideal for use in immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry applications. Syndecan-1, also known as CD138, is commonly expressed in epithelial and plasma cells, and is implicated in various biological processes, including cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Its dysregulation has been linked to various diseases, such as cancer and inflammation, making it a valuable target for therapeutic interventions.
This antibody is validated for use in WB, IHC-P, ELISA, IF-P applications and has demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat samples.

The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-1 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length natures of only two have been described to date. These two represent the major variants of this gene and encode the same protein.
