Assay Genie Hosts the Inaugural European Pipetting Championship: A Night of Scientific Showdown and Celebration

On Monday, September 2nd, Assay Genie hosted an electrifying event that saw the sharpest minds in the field of science take on a unique challenge—the first-ever European Pipetting Championship. The competition, held after Day 2 of the European Congress of Immunology, took place at the BrewDog Bar on the Grand Canal, just across from the convention centre. With over 200 attendees packing the bar, the atmosphere was buzzing as scientists from across Europe and beyond dueled for the illustrious title of European Pipetting Champion.
The contest kicked off with Round 1, where 64 participants, selected from countries including England, Spain, Italy, Portugal, the United States, Bosnia, and Germany, were tasked with filling the top two rows of a 96-well ELISA plate. The objective? Speed. Only the quickest would advance, with each round narrowing the field until only eight competitors remained.

The semi-final brought even more tension, as the remaining eight scientists faced off in a nail-biting challenge to fill the edges of the 96-well plate as fast as possible. In an intense race, Spain surged ahead, securing the first spot in the final, followed closely by Bosnia and Germany, who grabbed the third and fourth places respectively.


The final was nothing short of thrilling. Competitors had to fill the remaining center wells of the plate to claim one of the three coveted trophies. Spain’s Nieves Fernández-Gallego Anaya soared to victory, showcasing extraordinary precision and speed to take first place. Bosnia’s Kristina Draganić earned a well-deserved second, while Germany’s Nouria Jantz-Naeem secured third place on the podium.
