Description
About Phytase:
Phytase catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphoester bonds on myoinositol-(1,2,3,4,5,6)-hexakisphosphate (phytic acid or IP6), releasing inositol and phosphate. Phytic acid serves as the major storage reservoir for phosphate in plants and is abundant in grains such as wheat and barley. In single-stomached animals, the hydrolysis of phytic acid is a crucial aspect of nutrition, and the lack of phytase activity can lead to excessive phosphorus leaching into the environment from undigested phytic acid. Simple, direct, and automation-ready procedures for measuring phytase activity are highly desirable in agricultural, nutritional, and environmental research.
How the Phytase Assay Kit works:
Assay Genie's Phytase Assay Kit is based on a Malachite Green Phosphate detection method. Phytase in the sample hydrolyzes the supplied phytic acid substrate, releasing free phosphate. The released phosphate reacts with the POMG reagent to produce a coloured complex, and the colour intensity measured at 620 nm is directly proportional to the amount of phosphate released, and therefore to the phytase activity in the sample. The homogeneous "mix-and-measure" format allows quantification of phytase activity within 60 minutes in a standard 96-well plate.
Key Features:
- Simple. No complex detection reagents to mix.
- High sensitivity and wide detection range: 0.01 to 20 U/L phytase in a 96-well plate assay.
- Fast and convenient. Homogeneous mix-and-measure assay allows quantification of phytase activity within 60 minutes.
- Direct measurement of phytase activity in agricultural and biological samples.
