Proteins are purified to ≥95% purity as standard, confirmed by SDS-PAGE. The purity and QC data for each lot are on the product datasheet.
Many proteins are tested for biological activity, with an ED50 or specific activity reported on the datasheet — as in the TGF-β1 example above. Proteins without an activity statement are suited to uses such as ELISA standards, antibody production and binding assays.
His-tagged proteins suit purification and detection; Fc-tagged proteins are dimeric and useful for binding and cell-based work; biotinylated (Avi-tagged) proteins attach in a defined orientation to streptavidin surfaces for ELISA, SPR, BLI and flow cytometry. The tag and expression host are listed on each product page.
Human, mouse and rat proteins make up most of the range and are organised by protein type. Proteins from other species, such as non-human primate, porcine, bovine and canine, have their own species categories.
